Getting Back Behind the Wheel with SR22 Insurance, Part I

Filed under: High Risk Auto Insurance, SR 22 Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 5:49 pm

I never gave much thought to high risk auto insurance and what it could possibly mean in my life – especially in terms of how much I was paying for my car insurance policy. To be honest, my parents had paid my car insurance from the time I got my driver’s license through the time that I graduated from college. When I graduated and got my first job I got my own car insurance policy. It was quite a shock; the rates were pretty high because of my age and the fact that I wasn’t married (who knew?). But I figured it was just part of the price of admission to the real world and I rolled with it. I had no idea that it was a pretty good price I was paying considering what I would soon face.

I had some driving violations that seemed to come one after the other – not something I’m proud of – and eventually my license was suspended. This was an altogether humiliating experience. I had to count on friends to pick me up for work or I was forced to take public transportation that was in no way convenient where I lived. You have no idea how much you rely on your own car until you are without it and, trust me, it taught me a lesson. I was so happy to get my license back that I didn’t even consider what it would mean with regard to my car insurance. But I soon learned that I needed SR22 insurance – which validated that I had the appropriate high risk auto insurance. There was no option; this was absolutely required for me to get back on the road.

I had a lot of work ahead of me to find the appropriate insurance company that carried the right California auto insurance and could give me a quote that I could manage.
