In the last post I talked about my devastation at finding myself in the world’s most unheard of position. Who would have ever thought that I - someone who was living on her own, working at an amazing job, and had her whole life ahead of her - would do something as stupid as driving drunk? And yet that is exactly what I did. The result, of course, was an arrest that was beyond humiliating and left me without a license for a period of time; suspended in due course. This period of my life was dark beyond measure and I had a lot of things that I needed to work out; but I will say that I learned a huge lesson and in a way I’m happy that it happened to me and, of course, even happier that no one got hurt.
When it was time to get my license back I was in the position of now having to find high risk auto insurance. Because I was now considered a high risk driver, I needed high risk insurance and I had to get my wits about me to find it. I had been wallowing for so long - too long; and now it was time to pull myself together and get the information that I needed to get back on the road legally. I set to work to find California high risk car insurance that would cover me effectively and that I could afford. This was a big one. Everyone knows that SR22 insurance - high risk auto insurance - is more expensive than traditional policies. But there was no way around it; I had to have high risk insurance so I needed to find a policy that would work for me in the short term. Looking around was easier than I thought. With the Internet available to me, I was able to explore the many options available to me for high risk auto insurance.

When you think that everything will always be the way that is right at this moment you are setting yourself up for major disappointment; change comes whether we want it to or not and sometimes the unexpected can happen. For me, there could be nothing further from my reality than being arrested for drunk driving. I was a professional in my twenties; not some stupid teenager who made a big mistake. The shame of what I had done was almost too much for me to bear and when I lost my driver’s license I though that my entire world had come to a crashing end. I was absolutely miserable; so depressed that I could barely function and yet I still had to get up each day and go to work with the knowledge that I was paying a big price for a big mistake. It was difficult enough to be without my license and to depend on others for transportation, but when the time came to get my license returned I quickly realized that there was another reality with which I was going to have to contend - high risk auto insurance.
Those who are considered to be high risk drivers - a category that I was now clearly a member of - are also required to carry high risk auto insurance or SR22 insurance in order to drive legally. This means finding an insurance company that offers high risk insurance and then finding a policy that covers you in all the ways that you need including in the most affordable way that you can find. I had finally moved past the point of inertia and feeling sorry for myself; which was a good thing because I had some things I needed to do if I was going to get back on the road. In the last post I talked about my attitude - one that had come to the surface in recent years - to handle change calmly; to go for the ride, so to speak. Change is scary for most people - me included; but it is inevitable and the way that it all goes down depends on your attitude and ability to handle it all. This was the philosophy that I applied to a lot of big life situations, as well as my everyday life. This was the attitude that I brought to the table when I lost my license and then had to find high risk auto insurance.
People have their licenses suspended for many reasons including having too many traffic violations, being involved in a number of accidents, driving under the influence, and more. For me, accidents were the cause for losing my license temporarily. This was one of the hardest times in my life but I walked through it with as much strength as possible; doing what I needed to do to come out the other side. Once I came out the other side, however, I was faced with another challenge. When my license was restored I was required to carry SR22 insurance - or high risk auto insurance - in order to be back on the road legally. Let’s face it; I was a driving risk and not every insurance company was going to extend themselves to cover me.
This was where things got even stickier. I had to find an insurance company that not only offered California high risk car insurance but that had a policy that would work for me and cover me affordably. Getting online was the best thing that I could do in this situation as I could explore the companies around me that offered high risk auto insurance, inspect the policies that they offered and compare them side by side in order to get the best price.

Life is never meant to be the same day after day; change is simply a part of life which can be a great thing and also quite terrifying depending on how you approach it and how invested you are in everything staying the same. Change used to really freak me out but I’ve gotten much better with it as I’ve gotten older; after all, what can I do about it? I might as well buckle down and go for the ride. This was the attitude I took to the table when I found out that I needed high risk auto insurance. Was it a huge change in and of itself? No. But it followed a tough time in my life and now I was left to pay payments - quite literally - at a price that I could not imagine being able to swing. I had to organize my thoughts and gather information.
The need for California high risk car insurance - for me - came as a result of one too many accidents. I was not the greatest driver to begin with but my cavalier attitude and horrible habits had led me to get ticket after ticket for a number of traffic violations. Eventually I had my license suspended as a result. This was a tough emotional time for me. I was ashamed, to say the least, and then there was the logistical consideration of trying to get to and from the places that I needed to go - including work - without my car. I had really gotten myself into a tough situation.
Once I got my license returned to me, it was with the condition that I carry high risk auto insurance. Now it was up to me to find the insurance coverage that would provide what I needed at a price that I could at least swallow temporarily. More in the next post…

The Internet has offered us many advantages - not the least of which is the ability to simply logon to our computers and search for whatever it is we need in the world, after which we are delivered with the answers within moments. There’s not much that we don’t turn to the Internet to find; everything is out there at our fingertips and we can easily access all that we need without even leaving our home or office. Such is the case with finding information regarding SR22 insurance - auto insurance that high risk drivers are often legally required to carry. If, for instance, you have your license suspended for any infraction you may be required by law to carry SR22 insurance - high risk auto insurance - to get back on the road.
High risk auto insurance, of course, comes at a higher price than traditional auto insurance policies and that is the reason that it should be searched out so carefully. Not every policy is the same, prices fluctuate, coverage differs between policies; these are all things that require time and attention to detail if you are going to find the policy that makes the most sense for you with regard to coverage and price.
Getting online to find SR22 insurance offers you many benefits including:
The opportunity to find companies that offer high risk auto insurance. As you can imagine, not every auto insurance company offers this kind of coverage. You can easily locate those companies that do online.
Better vet the companies in which you are interested. Want to find out if there’s any complaints against companies? What customers have to say about their insurance coverage and customer service experience? There’s no better place than online.
The ability to compare policies side by side. Because policies differ in what they offer it’s important to be able to make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Online you can see clearly the coverage that companies offer and make sure that you are going to be getting what you need at a price you can afford.

No one - I repeat - no one wants to be put into the position of having to face the music when they’ve done something wrong; but when you get caught doing something that is not above board the best that you can hope to do in that situation is handle it with maturity and responsibility. What I was facing was my (poor) decision to drive when my license was suspended and my subsequent longer term removal of my driver’s license. I was also facing the very real financial reality that I was going to have to pay a lot of money to get insured once I was back on the road. I was now going to have to have SR22 insurance - high risk auto insurance - and the state would be keeping a very close eye on me to make sure that I did indeed have the coverage that I was supposed to have.
Now that I had some time on my hands I was already working towards the day that I would be back on the road - this time as a much more responsible driver who has my wits about me. This required me going through the California auto insurance companies online and finding those that would even give me high risk auto insurance. I can assure you that this is not the easiest thing to find and I’m not sure how people did this research prior to the Internet. But with some time online and an idea of what I wanted I was able to find those companies that offered SR22 insurance and had the coverage that I was required to have. Once I found policies I requested quotes to see what I was going to be looking at in terms of payments. I was not at all surprised to learn that I was going to have to pay more than for a traditional auto insurance policy but this would not be forever and it was time to face the music.

In the last post I talked about the sticker shock that I had experienced when I first got my California auto insurance. Just coming off my parents’ policy had not prepared me for the prices that I would be paying on my own - as a single, relatively new driver. However I had a good record and honestly my rates were really quite good considering my age. That all changed however when I found myself in the position of having to find California high risk car insurance. This was something that I needed after I had my license suspended for a series of traffic violations. These were not good days for me and certainly something that I seriously regret but, regret aside, I had to deal with the present situation on hand.
Getting my license back required me to now carry SR22 insurance by law - at least for a period of time. My insurance company did not provide high risk auto insurance so I needed to move on and find a policy that would cover me at a pice that I could at least realistically afford.
When I did my research online I was surprised at how many insurance companies offered high risk auto insurance and also how much the policies differed between companies. I spent my time identifying the insurance companies that were reputable and then looking at their high risk policies closely. All policies were not the same; I had to look closely to make sure that they gave the coverage that I needed. Once I identified each company I asked for a car insurance quote. California had much to offer in terms of high risk auto insurance; it was my job to seek out the best and most affordable among each of the policies so that I could find what I needed to get back to driving.

It takes a lot of research to find comprehensive California auto insurance that is still affordable. This is one of the largest bills we will pay as a part of our living expenses; it costs a lot to insure a driver. When that driver is high risk, however, policies can cost even more. Not every driver has a perfect record; that’s the reality but that doesn’t mean that such a driver doesn’t deserve a second chance - or a chance to get the comprehensive car insurance that they need.
California high risk car insurance is just another type of insurance policy; one that is specific to those who have a less than perfect driving record. In fact, for those who have gotten multiple violations or have had their license suspended for a period of time, high risk - or SR22 insurance - is required by law. So how do such drivers go about finding the high risk auto insurance that they need?
Head Online. The Internet is our full service access to all the information we need for whatever products and services that we seek. Here we can find the car insurance companies that offer the type of high risk auto insurance that we need at prices we can afford.
Gather quotes, one by one. The beauty of shopping online is having the ability to get information quickly. Online we can narrow our choice down and request a car insurance quote. California has a bevy of options when it comes to high risk auto insurance; there are variables when it comes to price and shopping online can help us identify the cheaper policies.
Get educated. Before we even go about comparing policies we need to know what we are looking for in terms of coverage. Online research will give us the information that we need so that we know that we are comparing the same type of coverage from company to company and policy to policy.

As California continues to struggle with the economic downturn, more families are finding it necessary to cut corners to make ends meet. While it’s not possible for motorists to avoid paying for California auto insurance, there are ways to lower costs. This is even so for drivers who require SR22 insurance.
California high risk car insurance is generally required by law when a motorist has a past that is checkered. DUIs, reckless driving charges and other similar offenses behind the wheel can all lead to the need for this type of coverage. While it is true high risk auto insurance will cost more than coverage for a driver with a squeaky clean record, it is possible to enjoy reasonable pricing.
When it’s time to get a car insurance quote California motorists can actually afford on high risk policies, make sure to:
Understand the legal requirements – Before trying to buy high risk auto insurance, be certain of the legal requirements to do so. If questions exist, refer to court orders pertaining to driving charges.
Review other needs – While SR22 insurance will cost more, there are other types of coverage that might not be necessary on a policy. Review the policy currently in force and look for anything that can possibly be dropped to lower the total bottom line cost. Rental coverage or towing, for example, might not be needed.
Seek out multiple quotes – There are companies out there that offer reasonable pricing on California high risk car insurance. To find them, seek out a reputable online broker and request quotes from a number of different companies. Settling for the first quote received can be a costly mistake.
With household budgets under fire from every direction, it just doesn’t make sense to pay too much for SR22 insurance. Dealing with a licensed broker can produce pleasing results.

With so much information available to us on a daily basis (through the many means of communication that we have at our fingertips) it can be difficult to sift through everything in order to find the pieces that we most need. Looking at it another way, however – these methods of communication make things easier and more convenient for us – giving us the ability to find the information that we need in a matter of moments. I looked to the Internet as my source of information when it came to finding SR22 insurance – something that I was going to have to have in order to get on the road responsibly and legally after getting my license back after a suspension.
I am certainly not the first person – nor will I be the last – to have my license suspended. I lost my license for a temporary period of time due to a variety of violations. But what I had failed to consider was the fact that in order to get back on the road legally I was going to have to have SR22 insurance in hand – high risk auto insurance that would definitely cost more than the traditional insurance policies and would require me to do some research in order to find the insurance companies that would indeed offer such a policy.
Finding SR22 insurance, however, did not require the footwork that I originally thought that it would. I knew that not every insurance company would offer high risk auto insurance but I needed to seek out those that would – and find the most affordable car insurance quote. California had a ton of information to sort through and I was able to get through it quickly and easily online. On the Internet I sought out the insurance companies that offered the appropriate California auto insurance and looked for the prices that would be as affordable for me as possible.
