In the last post I talked about the addition of my son to our family of drivers and how we were caught off guard by the fact that he would - at least initially - be considered a high risk driver. To get a label of this kind seemed strange to me when he had not even been out on the road as of yet but it was explained to me that his age, inexperience, and even his gender made him - statistically anyway - a high risk driver that would, as a result, require high risk auto insurance. This was news to me and not news that I was happy to receive. We already paid so much money in car insurance as a family; I didn’t know how we would be able to swing the cost for a California high risk car insurance policy.
We went online where we knew we had the best shot of finding the information that we needed and we were absolutely right to start there. Here’s the thing - there are a ton of insurance companies out there and while many do not even offer high risk auto insurance those that do offer policies that must be examined carefully. Not every policy offers what you need so while the price may look good, you then find out that the price is lower because it does not provide what you ultimately need.
Going through the Internet allowed us to really compare apples to apples - to put policies side by side and determine what would work best for us and out of that group who offered the best price. This was absolutely the way to go. We could even investigate the companies with which we were considering working - to see if they had a good reputation or if there were any complaints against them. In the end we found the policy that would serve us well and at a price we could at least manage in the short term.

Welcoming my son into the world of driving was difficult enough as a parent who is, of course, worried about his safety. But we were also met with news that we were unprepared for - that because of his age and inexperience our son would be considered a high risk driver right from the start and would - as a result - require high risk auto insurance. For a family that already paid through the nose for car insurance, as well as a host of other bills, we were terrified to think what California high risk car insurance would now cost us over and above what we were already paying.
While it was true that high risk auto insurance does come at a premium there was some room within the industry to find policies that would not completely break the bank. After all, this wasn’t forever; as long as my son kept his driving record clean he would not be considered a high risk driver for too long. We needed to find a policy that covered our needs today and allowed us to abide by what we were legally required to do - at a cost we could wrap our heads around.
The Internet was very much our salvation on this front. By getting online we could search out policies that met our needs and best of all we could compare policies side by side to determine which made the most sense for the money they were asking. As it turns out there was a lot of differences between policies; we needed only to do the legwork it would take to find those policies that worked for us and then make our decision from there. I was happy to know that we still had some options available to us and we were ready to see what was out there from which to choose. More to come in the next post.

No one - I repeat - no one wants to be put into the position of having to face the music when they’ve done something wrong; but when you get caught doing something that is not above board the best that you can hope to do in that situation is handle it with maturity and responsibility. What I was facing was my (poor) decision to drive when my license was suspended and my subsequent longer term removal of my driver’s license. I was also facing the very real financial reality that I was going to have to pay a lot of money to get insured once I was back on the road. I was now going to have to have SR22 insurance - high risk auto insurance - and the state would be keeping a very close eye on me to make sure that I did indeed have the coverage that I was supposed to have.
Now that I had some time on my hands I was already working towards the day that I would be back on the road - this time as a much more responsible driver who has my wits about me. This required me going through the California auto insurance companies online and finding those that would even give me high risk auto insurance. I can assure you that this is not the easiest thing to find and I’m not sure how people did this research prior to the Internet. But with some time online and an idea of what I wanted I was able to find those companies that offered SR22 insurance and had the coverage that I was required to have. Once I found policies I requested quotes to see what I was going to be looking at in terms of payments. I was not at all surprised to learn that I was going to have to pay more than for a traditional auto insurance policy but this would not be forever and it was time to face the music.

In the last post we talked about how to go about getting a high risk auto insurance policy that you can afford from a company that you can trust. As we discussed earlier, the Internet offers a host of options for seeking the information we need. There is no greater resource for quickly gathering information. A traditional auto insurance policy is one thing - but also something that can be found easily online where you have the opportunity to compare and contrast policies - but high risk auto insurance is another animal entirely. High risk auto insurance - or SR22 insurance - is legally mandated to be carried by those who are considered high risk drivers. These drivers are already paying a premium for high risk insurance because the company itself is taking a risk and charging for the privilege. Additionally, however, there is also added cost associated with full and comprehensive coverage - something that not every driver chooses to purchase.
In the last post we talked about getting everything you need online where you can first identify those companies that even offer high risk auto insurance (not all do) and gain insight into those that would be considered trustworthy (from the testimonials of others who have worked with them as well as companies who may rate insurance policy providers) as well as request a car insurance quote. California has many insurance companies but going online allows you to better focus and manage your search. Once you get a variety of car insurance quotes from those companies in which you are interested, you can:
Compare policies. Most assuredly not every high risk auto insurance policy is the same as the next. You will likely find some gaping holes between them. Be sure you know what it is that you need so that you can make sure that you are comparing the same offerings across the board.
Contact companies. Once you identify those companies with which you want to work and you’ve gotten a quote that makes sense reach out to the company on a personal level. Just because they sound good on “paper” doesn’t mean you’ll feel comfortable working with them. This is a relationship that you’re going to have for some time; make sure that you feel comfortable and respected.

In the last post I talked about my current state of affairs with regard to my drivers license. In short, I had done enough over the years to be cited for a number of driving violations. So when I was arrested for driving under the influence the time for second chances was far behind me. I promptly had my license suspended. This was humiliating to say the least; I found myself at the age of twenty-two completely dependent on others to get me where I needed to go. Beyond that, however, I was completely ashamed of myself and my behavior. I could not make it better but I could do the right thing going forward so I did all that was expected and required of me and much more in terms of driving education, counseling, and beyond. I was ready to turn my life around and this was the beginning.
Part of what I had to deal with was finding high risk auto insurance that was right for me. I had no choice in carrying California high risk car insurance; this was simply something that was required of me by law. I was now considered a high risk driver and would be for some time. As a high risk driver I needed a high risk auto policy; but not every policy was the same. How would I find the right one for me?
How I found the right policy for me was by getting online and gathering all the information that I needed to make an informed choice. Online I could search for those auto insurance companies that offered high risk policies and I could compare the coverage side by side to figure out which ones offered more for the price.
I still have some more research to conduct but in the end I will have the coverage that I need to get back on the road legally and that’s all I can ask.

When I found myself in the position of having to find high risk auto insurance I was overwhelmed for a number of reasons. For one, what I had done to put me in this spot to begin with was difficult enough to swallow. I had been arrested for drunk driving - and because of a variety of tickets that I had received prior to that - for a number of violations - I had my license suspended. This was hard to deal with, not just because, as an adult I was now going to be dependent on people to get me to and from work; but because of what I had done to cause this. I was ashamed more than anything but the nature of my situation forced me to deal with it head on and that was what I intended to do.
There is much that I am doing to atone for my driving sins, so to speak - including attending counseling and state mandated driving school and alcohol support groups. I am living on the straight and narrow. Plus, because I can’t really go anywhere on my own, my social life has been significantly reduced. I am already looking forward to the day that I will get my license back but it’s not without some trepidation because I know that there are financial repercussions attached to getting my driving privileges back - mainly in the form of high risk auto insurance.
As a high risk driver - which I now am - I am required by law to carry high risk auto insurance. This is a much more complex auto insurance policy and because the insurance companies take on a greater risk by covering me they charge more. I have a lot to consider and so I am beginning my search for the right high risk auto insurance policy now. More in the next post…

Researching car insurance policies can seem overwhelming for nearly anyone but when you need high risk auto insurance rather than a traditional policy the challenge can be intensified. Any California auto insurance policy comes with a price tag; we all know that it is incumbent upon us to do the legwork to find the insurance carrier that can give us the policy that we need in terms of coverage and at the right price. There are many insurance carriers which we can compare and the Internet has ultimately made the ability to conduct research much more convenient and certainly easier. Online capabilities have also given us an easier road to travel when looking for a California high risk car insurance policy.
High risk auto insurance comes with a higher price tag - no ifs, ands or buts about it. When an insurance company agrees to cover a high risk driver they are assuming a greater risk and they charge a premium for this service. First of all, not every insurance company even offers high risk insurance; there are only a select few that will assume this kind of risk and those that do vary in their policy offerings in terms of coverage and price.
It is fortunate that as consumers we have the ability to conduct research online where we can conveniently gather the information that we need and compare from there. Going online allows us to:
Identify the companies that offer high risk auto insurance in our area.
Examine the policies that these companies offer. Not every high risk auto insurance policy is the same. Coverage will differ from policy to policy; we need to find the policy that offers the most comprehensive coverage for the price.
Request a car insurance quote. California high risk policies come in all shapes and sizes - and costs differ as well. Once you identify companies with which you could work you can request a quote online and compare them side by side.

When it came time to find a high risk auto insurance quote I was overwhelmed to say the least. Here I was with limited financial resources and yet I was required to carry car insurance that was undoubtedly going to be more money than any traditional policy. I had done it to myself; a variety of traffic violations later I was now considered a high risk driver and I had to have the insurance to match. This was going to be difficult; there were many policies to choose from but it was obvious at first glance that not every policy delivered the same coverage as the last. In order to know that I was comparing the same types of policies I needed to gather the information and put them up against each other in order to make the best decision. The easiest - and most convenient - way to do that was online where I could examine each company and request a car insurance quote. California had many options for car insurance and I had to do the legwork to find the best possible policy for my specific needs.
I got right online and began the process of finding high risk auto insurance policies that were matched to my needs. I was right to think that they were not all the same; there were glaring differences between the policies on further inspection. I was able to lay it all out in front of me and compare them side by side. I was already nervous about carrying a high risk policy; choosing the “wrong” policy that didn’t give me the right coverage would not be good.
By gathering quotes online, however, I felt like I was able to do the most comprehensive research and find the best policy - at the best price for me.

In the last post I talked about how committed I was to giving second chances and how I had now found myself in the position of having to give myself a second chance. This was easier said than done; it was, it turned out, much harder to forgive yourself than it was to forgive someone else. I had gotten pulled over for driving under the influence and it was not the first time. This time, as a multiple offender, I had my license suspended. The humiliation of having to face my family and friends put me into a different frame of mind; everything became clear to me very quickly and I knew that I had to change my life.
During this time I made many strides in changing the direction of my life. I attended driving classes, I entered into therapy, I did community service, and I complied with everything that I was required to do - and much more - to not only get my license back but become a more responsible driver. One of the practical matters at hand however was finding California high risk car insurance; this was what I was legally required to carry once I was back on the road. I was now considered a high risk driver; a label that I would have to live with for some time. I wanted to be safe and well covered on the road and not just any California auto insurance would do; SR22 insurance was going to be a part of my life at least in the short term.
I got online to find high risk auto insurance that would give me the coverage that I needed and would also be something that I could afford during the time that I needed it. I looked at researching and finding high risk auto insurance as one of the important ways that I was becoming more responsible; and in so doing I could give myself a second chance.

I am all about giving second chances. I believe strongly that we all have our own mistakes to make; that mistakes are a part of life and actually help us to live our best life. We can only learn from our mistakes; there is no other way and going down the wrong path sometimes is the only way to find the right path. I have no trouble applying this concept to everyone else but I have to say that it was difficult to apply this philosophy to my own mistakes. It is much harder to forgive yourself than it is to forgive others. For me, the mistake that helped me to learn most about myself was driving while intoxicated. Those who know me were shocked to learn when I got caught that it was not the first time. It was humiliating to lose my license and face my friends and family. I felt like the worst person in the world and it was the lowest time in my life. I knew that what I had done was absolutely unacceptable and I knew that I had to change my life. There were many repercussions for what I had done and one of the things that I had to deal with prior to getting my license back was the purchase of high risk auto insurance.
While I worked on my personal life there were financial considerations that I had to deal with as well. California high risk car insurance did not come cheap but it was absolutely necessary if I wanted to get back on the road legally and turn everything around. I had some work to do to find the California auto insurance that I could afford and getting online was the best way to do my research and collect the information that would allow me to make the best decision.
