High Risk Auto Insurance for the Newest Driver on our Team, Part II
In the last post I talked about the addition of my son to our family of drivers and how we were caught off guard by the fact that he would - at least initially - be considered a high risk driver. To get a label of this kind seemed strange to me when he had not even been out on the road as of yet but it was explained to me that his age, inexperience, and even his gender made him - statistically anyway - a high risk driver that would, as a result, require high risk auto insurance. This was news to me and not news that I was happy to receive. We already paid so much money in car insurance as a family; I didn’t know how we would be able to swing the cost for a California high risk car insurance policy.
We went online where we knew we had the best shot of finding the information that we needed and we were absolutely right to start there. Here’s the thing - there are a ton of insurance companies out there and while many do not even offer high risk auto insurance those that do offer policies that must be examined carefully. Not every policy offers what you need so while the price may look good, you then find out that the price is lower because it does not provide what you ultimately need.
Going through the Internet allowed us to really compare apples to apples - to put policies side by side and determine what would work best for us and out of that group who offered the best price. This was absolutely the way to go. We could even investigate the companies with which we were considering working - to see if they had a good reputation or if there were any complaints against them. In the end we found the policy that would serve us well and at a price we could at least manage in the short term.
