Many Different Types of California Auto Insurance

Filed under: California Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 7:23 am

The state of California is a state highly committed to their cars. Well-traveled roads and a ton of commuters make the daily back and forth to work quite the experience – and one that is talked about coast to coast. With so many cars on the road, it is necessary for all drivers to be covered by some type of California auto insurance. Luckily, there are many reputable companies that offer California auto insurance of many different varieties. While most of us are able to procure standard car insurance based on limited risk factors such as age, gender, and driving history, there are others of us who need a more specific type of insurance to suit our unique needs.

California high risk car insurance is reserved for those drivers that have been involved in a number of accidents or who have been cited for speeding or reckless driving on a frequent basis. In many cases, once this pattern makes itself known, the offending driver will often find themselves being dropped by their insurance company who chooses to no longer insure such a risky driver.

With insurance being a legal requirement for taking to the roads in California, drivers must look into high risk auto insurance in order to stay compliant. High risk auto insurance is a very specialized insurance policy and it is not offered by all insurance companies. Drivers are expected to pay higher than average premiums to mitigate their risk, but with continued responsible driving, high risk drivers can lower their risk and eventually find their way back to traditional car insurance coverage.

Additionally, insurance companies that offer high risk auto insurance will generally also offer SR22 insurance for high risk drivers. SR22 insurance is put in place for drivers who have recently received their driver’s license back after having it suspended. SR22 insurance is a policy set up so that authorities are aware that the driver in question has the proper car insurance; conversely, if the insurance is allowed to drop or is canceled, authorities will also be alerted to this change through the SR22 insurance at which time the driver’s license may be suspended once again, or even revoked.
