Car insurance is one of those things that just has to be dealt with at some point - whether we like it or not. We may not want to spend the money, we may not want to do the research that finding an appropriate California auto insurance entails; but in the end it’s just something that we have to do according to the law and it makes the most sense for us if we are able to find the insurance policy that we can live with in terms of price and what offers us the coverage that can give us peace of mind.
So research must be done no matter what; it is worth the time put into the process to be sure that you are not overpaying for insurance that does not offer the appropriate coverage. This is especially true when seeking out California high risk car insurance. It’s true that you’re going to spend more in premiums to be covered by high risk auto insurance; there is simply no way around this fact. But if you are diligent in your search and you turn to the Internet for a fast and effective way to gather your information you can weed through the policies - and their prices - quickly and be well on your way to finding the appropriate coverage.
Online research allows those in the market for high risk insurance to get a car insurance quote. California has a variety of insurance companies and not all offer the appropriate level of insurance. In other words it can be challenging to compare apples to apples. Online research, however, can allow you to identify those companies that offer the coverage that you need and then compare side by side the policies that they offer along with prices. Be sure to collect many car insurance quotes - there are many choices out there - so that you can establish that you are indeed getting the best deal.

When it comes to car insurance there’s no one less interested in the details than me. I admit that I’ve been spoiled - going from my parents’ car insurance policy to a California auto insurance policy that my husband set up as soon as we were married. I’ve never had to really deal with insurance too much and it’s something to which I’ve given little thought as a result. But now that I am single these are the things that I have had to do for myself and while I thought that finding a traditional car insurance policy was difficult I didn’t know how I was going to find high risk auto insurance.
Who knew that I even needed California high risk car insurance? This came as a shock to me. Obviously I knew that I had had some problems with my driving record and I had recently had my driver’s license suspended as a result. To be honest though I had never considered the fact that such an event would impact my need for a particular type of car insurance. So when I found out that in fact I needed high risk auto insurance before I would be able to get back on the road I was surprised and then immediately panicked. How would I find what I needed and still be able to afford it?
I knew that now was the time that I needed to step up and do what I needed to do to take care of myself on my own terms - I couldn’t rely on anyone else to do it for me this time. I headed straight to my computer where I knew that I would be able to find the high risk auto insurance I needed to get me through this particular period of time until I could once again drive with traditional insurance. Insurance premiums are calculated according to statistics; something that is true of all insurance policies. You are compared against the average and the insurance company determines the likelihood of particular situations occurring depending upon certain criteria. Looking for insurance requires you to look for the insurance companies that provide the coverage that you need and then giving them the criteria that will allow them to calculate a quote for your policy. Obviously it’s crucial to your pocketbook to do your homework. Policy prices vary from company to company and if you want to make sure that you’re not overpaying then you have to do the footwork. Proper research is especially important when you’re seeking high risk auto insurance; and finding a company and sticking with them is also important.
Your profile as an insurance consumer is all about numbers and perception. There is already a perception about you from the standpoint of the insurance companies because you need high risk auto insurance. Those who have had multiple violations, have been cited for driving under the influence, or have been involved in numerous accidents may be required to carry SR22 insurance. The companies that will provide you this insurance have already assessed you according to your risk; and quite frankly you are a higher risk to them having to come out of pocket because of your driving behavior.
The important thing is to find the insurance company that provides you the comprehensive coverage that you need and to settle into the task of becoming less of a risk so that you can one day get California auto insurance that it is not high risk. Switching from insurance company to insurance company does not look good on anyone’s record so it is important to choose wisely and choose once. More in the next post…

In the last post we talked about the right way to go when searching out the appropriate California high risk car insurance policy. The fact is that such a California auto insurance policy can be downright pricey; something that is a part of the package when it comes to a high risk policy because the insurance company is taking a bigger risk insuring someone with a record and there is a financial component to that. There are many who just assume that such a policy will be through the roof and they buckle down to pay it for as long as they have to be covered as a risky driver. As we already discussed, however, there are many California auto insurance companies that offer high risk policies and the coverage and prices differ enormously between them. It is incumbent upon the driver who is looking for insurance to do the research necessary to find the policy that makes the most sense.
The Internet has made research in this capacity much more convenient as we are able to logon and get the information that we need in a matter of minutes. As we discussed previously, Internet research allows us to compare policy to policy - making sure that we are only comparing policies that offer the same type of coverage. Some policies may be lower priced - but are they offering the coverage that the higher priced policy is offering? Additionally, Internet research allows us to request a car insurance quote. California insurance companies can be gathered online and we can then compare the quotes that we get.
Most importantly, online research allows us to go beyond the one insurance company that may have been available to us locally or even regionally. Don’t stop at getting one insurance quote when it comes to high risk auto insurance policies; gather as many quotes as possible from as many companies as possible and choose wisely from among them.

When it comes to searching out appropriate California auto insurance it may be tempting to go with the first policy that looks somewhat promising or is less than you had assumed that you would be paying - especially if you need high risk auto insurance. While it’s understandable, especially in this economy and during this time of year that you just want to get it over and done with - choose a policy and forget about it - rushing through the process can leave you unprotected and may even mean that you are paying more than you have to for car insurance.
You may think, however, that the opposite of rushing through the process of searching for car insurance means putting aside several weeks to research car insurance policies. Luckily, there is something that is far easier and certainly far faster and it comes through the Internet. With just a few hours of Internet research you can find California auto insurance companies that offer traditional policies as well as California high risk car insurance. This will allow you to:
Compare policy to policy. At first glance it may appear as though each car insurance policy offers the same types of coverage but on closer examination you may see that you are not comparing apples to apples. Read through the policies carefully to make sure that they offer what you need; skimping on coverage for a lower price is never a good bet.
Request a car insurance quote. California insurance companies that are online will often offer the ability to fill out a questionnaire. The information gathered will be used to generate a car insurance quote. To that end, it is imperative that you give the insurance companies the detailed information for which they ask so that they can give you the best quote.

In the last post I talked about my utter surprise when I discovered that my twins - who were just about to get their driver’s licenses - were actually considered to be high risk because of their age and inexperience. I was prepared for additional expenses associated with them driving but I had never considered that part of those expenses would include high risk auto insurance. In fact, I had just assumed that they would have the typical California auto insurance policy in our state; high risk auto insurance was - as far as I was concerned anyway - reserved for those who had a bad driving record or had lost their license for a period of time.
While it is true that those drivers who have had trouble - up to and including having their license suspended - are required to carry high risk auto insurance in most cases, it is also true that the insurance “powers that be” use a variety of criteria in order to classify drivers. Age and experience - even type of vehicle and marital status - can impact the likelihood of accidents according to statistics. My teenage children were in that group and I had to find the California high risk car insurance that would give us the policy we needed at a price we could afford.
I jumped right online and began to gather car insurance quote after car insurance quote. California has its share of insurance companies and the most efficient way to find out which ones offer high risk auto insurance was to get online and begin the hunt. This only took a matter of hours; before long I had a list of companies from which I had requested quotes. In a matter of days we had the California auto insurance that we needed to best protect our family.

When I moved to California from the East Coast several years ago I had a lot of adjustment ahead of me. Not only was I dealing with a completely different climate (I had come from an area that was no stranger to snow to live in a state that was perpetually sunny), I had a time difference with which to contend and a completely different lifestyle that took me some time with which to become familiar. Things were different - and prices were different. I had to go about creating my life here and that meant everything from making new friends to dealing with the often mundane details of life, including buying a California auto insurance policy.
While I might have thought it was difficult in the beginning I had - as the expression goes - not seen anything yet. Six months after I moved here I made a terrible decision to get behind the wheel after drinking at a holiday party. I got into an accident and thankfully only wound up hurting myself. I did, however, also have to deal with the legal ramifications of my decision. In my case, that meant losing my license for a period of time and - when I finally did get it back - having to find California high risk car insurance that would cover me.
I had thought that finding a policy when I was considered a “safe” driver was difficult but I was absolutely certain I would never find a high risk auto insurance policy that I could afford. I was convinced that I would be paying - quite literally- for this mistake for the rest of my life. That’s when a good friend suggested that I get online to search out an affordable car insurance quote. California had a lot of insurance companies and many different policies; I needed to be able to search through them effectively.

California auto insurance can take a big bite out of a monthly budget. This is especially so if a driver in the family has a need for high risk auto insurance. Skirting the system isn’t smart, but taking steps to reduce overall costs can be.
So, how can drivers reduce the overall expense of California high risk car insurance?
There are a number of things drivers can do to cut their costs and even to avoid the need for continued SR22 insurance coverage. They include:
Taking training classes – It is not uncommon for driving courses to be required when high risk auto insurance is ordered by a judge. Drivers should make certain they take these courses and even others that might help lower insurance costs down the road.
Seeking out other discounts – To lower overall costs on a family, it’s important to seek out any and all discounts that might be available on a policy. While California auto insurance for higher risk drivers will cost more, other drivers on a policy might be eligible for savings.
Making certain to only purchase necessary coverage – There are a lot of motorists out there that have either too much coverage or not enough. Review current policy documents for potential savings. Dropping comprehensive and collision on a car that is paid off and has a low value, for example, can reduce overall costs by a fair amount. Do not, however, remove coverage types that are important. If a family only has one vehicle, rental coverage might be essential.
Taking the time to shop for quotes – The best way to get a car insurance quote California residents can afford is to truly seek one out. Picking up the phone to call a single company and accepting that quote as carved in stone is not wise. To get a real idea of costs, seek out at least three quotes. Using on online broker licensed in California will expedite this process.
Reducing the overall costs of California auto insurance is often possible. All it takes is careful attention to details and the willingness to shop around a bit for the right quote.

With so much information available to us on a daily basis (through the many means of communication that we have at our fingertips) it can be difficult to sift through everything in order to find the pieces that we most need. Looking at it another way, however – these methods of communication make things easier and more convenient for us – giving us the ability to find the information that we need in a matter of moments. I looked to the Internet as my source of information when it came to finding SR22 insurance – something that I was going to have to have in order to get on the road responsibly and legally after getting my license back after a suspension.
I am certainly not the first person – nor will I be the last – to have my license suspended. I lost my license for a temporary period of time due to a variety of violations. But what I had failed to consider was the fact that in order to get back on the road legally I was going to have to have SR22 insurance in hand – high risk auto insurance that would definitely cost more than the traditional insurance policies and would require me to do some research in order to find the insurance companies that would indeed offer such a policy.
Finding SR22 insurance, however, did not require the footwork that I originally thought that it would. I knew that not every insurance company would offer high risk auto insurance but I needed to seek out those that would – and find the most affordable car insurance quote. California had a ton of information to sort through and I was able to get through it quickly and easily online. On the Internet I sought out the insurance companies that offered the appropriate California auto insurance and looked for the prices that would be as affordable for me as possible.

It’s bad enough that I had my license suspended; it really is. I am a parent and I am supposed to be the responsible party – the one who sets the standards. But I messed up and it was more than once. Finally, I had enough points on my license that I found myself with a suspension and some frustrated time on my hands as I begged rides from family, friends, and well-meaning strangers. I used this opportunity to talk to my children – one of whom was about to get his own driver’s license – about the importance of driving responsibly; and I thought it was important that they saw me accept my “punishment” so to speak and do my best to move on in a more responsible and certainly more humbled manner. Here’s what I didn’t think about, however…the fact that I would be required to carry high risk auto insurance once I got my license back. I was no longer just the average driver who needed the average expensive car insurance policy; I was now considered high risk because of my record and, subsequently, the insurance companies were taking a risk in providing me California auto insurance. The price more than reflected this risk. This was enough to handle financially speaking but imagine my surprise and panic when I learned that my teenage son who was about to get his license was also considered high risk. I didn’t know how I was going to pay for my own car insurance let alone high risk auto insurance for my son.
It turns out, because of his age and inexperience, that he was also in the high risk category and insurance companies charge a premium to cover him. I had no idea how I was going to find the appropriate car insurance for both of us. More in the next post…
