There is nothing worse than feeling like you have no say about how you spend your money but in most cases this is the unfortunate truth. Paying bills is certainly not the choice that most of us make when it comes to spending our money but this is something that we have to do regardless. If you would have asked me several months ago if I would ever be able to find high risk auto insurance at a price that I could afford I would have told you that there was no way. I was absolutely at the point where I figured I would just have to suck up ridiculous prices to pay for a high risk insurance policy or forfeit the right to drive altogether. In the last post I talked about my devastation at finding myself in the world’s most unheard of position. Who would have ever thought that I - someone who was living on her own, working at an amazing job, and had her whole life ahead of her - would do something as stupid as driving drunk? And yet that is exactly what I did. The result, of course, was an arrest that was beyond humiliating and left me without a license for a period of time; suspended in due course. This period of my life was dark beyond measure and I had a lot of things that I needed to work out; but I will say that I learned a huge lesson and in a way I’m happy that it happened to me and, of course, even happier that no one got hurt.

When you think that everything will always be the way that is right at this moment you are setting yourself up for major disappointment; change comes whether we want it to or not and sometimes the unexpected can happen. For me, there could be nothing further from my reality than being arrested for drunk driving. I was a professional in my twenties; not some stupid teenager who made a big mistake.
