Getting California High Risk Car Insurance to Work for Me

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 7:05 am

One of the things that I dislike most in the world is feeling like I’m out of control; that I’m in the hands of someone or something else who is calling the shots. Now, you might say that pretty much describes most of life and I guess that’s true to a certain extent. I just know that I feel better about things when I have the opportunity to do my own research, explore my own possibilities, and make my own decisions. Even when it comes to something that, in the end, I have to have - like California high risk car insurance.

There was no denying that I needed high risk auto insurance. I was labeled a high risk driver and as a high risk driver I was required to carry high risk auto insurance - to protect the insurance company that was extending me their coverage and to protect myself and other drivers on the road. As you might have guessed by now, high risk insurance coverage comes at a higher price - sometimes even a significantly higher price - than traditional car insurance. I was feeling backed into the corner because I had to do something I didn’t want to do and I had to pay a high price for the privilege. So instead of feeling like I was being controlled, I decided to take control and at least do the work necessary to make sure that I was getting the best policy at the best price.

I began my quest for California high risk car insurance in one place where I knew that I could gather the most information - online. There, I felt more in control as I researched companies that offered high risk auto insurance in my area and - from those companies - determined the policies that they offered and at what price. I knew that in the end I would have high risk auto insurance but at least I was doing all that I could to make sure that it was on my terms and at the best price.

Getting a Car Insurance Quote: California Options for High Risk Car Insurance, Part II

Filed under: Car Insurance Quote California, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 6:06 am

In the last post I talked about how car insurance policies had always presented me with a bit of a challenge. I was always confused by the policy language and unsure about what I was looking at or what I was looking for in terms of good coverage. Plus, I had never really had to take on the responsibility of finding that policy; that had been done for me previously by everyone from my parents to my ex-husband. This time, I was on my own completely, especially since I was on the hunt for comprehensive high risk auto insurance. After having my license suspended I was required to carry SR22 insurance before I could begin driving once again. I was unsure how I would ready myself for such a mission. I needed to find the best policy at the best price.

It turns out that getting myself up to speed quickly had as much to do with my research techniques as anything else. The Internet was the most comprehensive resource available to me and I used it for everything. I found that getting online would not only give me the option to search out companies that offered California high risk car insurance, it would allow me to better research what each of those companies offered in terms of policy coverage and price. In order to gather this information most accurately from each company I requested a car insurance quote. California companies online that offer high risk auto insurance almost always allow you to enter your details and receive a free quote. This was a great way to establish what each company had to offer and at what price so that I could get a better look at what made the most sense for me and my current financial situation.

Getting a Car Insurance Quote: California Options for High Risk Car Insurance, Part I

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, Car Insurance Quote California, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 12:56 pm

Here is the truth of the matter; the idea of car insurance has always been a little intimidating to me. First of all, I don’t understand that much about cars in general so some of the language associated with a California auto insurance policy is completely foreign to me. I don’t like paying for something I don’t understand. Secondly, I’ve never actually been the one who has had to go out and find a car insurance policy or choose from among a variety of policies. Someone has always done that for me - whether it was my parents or my ex-husband. Now, however, I found myself in the position of having to do exactly what I feared - go out and find a car insurance policy - the best car insurance policy for my needs and one that I could afford - and educate myself enough about what I was looking at that so I wouldn’t feel like I was getting ripped off. Even better? I was not just looking for regular car insurance; I was looking for high risk auto insurance.

My license had been suspended and like anyone else who got their license back after such an experience, I was now considered a risky driver. A risky driver needed to carry high risk auto insurance and not every car insurance company offered such a thing. I had to get educated quickly, get up to speed on the type of policy I needed, find policies that were even available to me, and then, from each, get a car insurance quote. California has a lot of options when it comes to car insurance but I wasn’t sure how many of those companies would even offer customers high risk auto insurance. I guess it was time to find out. California High Risk Car Insurance Saves the Day

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 6:20 am

We all know that we are supposed to carry car insurance at all times - that we are legally required to have insurance coverage; but sometimes it can feel like we are paying through the nose for something that we will not likely need. Until, of course, you do need it. This was how I always felt about car insurance. I was always resentful about making that payment, especially when it kept increasing because of tickets that I got. Then, the unthinkable. I actually lost my license for a period of time - the result of a car accident that I got into when I was drinking. When my suspension was lifted I found myself not only needing traditional car insurance but needing high risk auto insurance. How would I pay for that? And what, I couldn’t help thinking, was the point?

Obviously I had to get California high risk car insurance or I wasn’t going to get my license back. Legally speaking I was absolutely required to carry high risk auto insurance and I had to do my due diligence to find a comprehensive policy that I could at least afford in the meantime. I did all that - finding a policy that gave me the coverage that I needed at a relatively reasonable price, considering. It was always going to cost more than traditional car insurance but there were choices and I made them as best I could.

Once I had my policy in place and I was back on the road I have to admit I was still annoyed by the fact that I was strapped with this payment for something I wasn’t sure I was even going to need. And then I was in an accident; an accident that was not my fault and that left my car damaged and me with injuries. My high risk auto insurance saved the day and I’ll never again question the benefit of car insurance of any kind.

SR22 Insurance for the Next Chapter in My Life, Part II

Filed under: SR 22 Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 2:10 pm

In the last post I talked about my attitude - one that had come to the surface in recent years - to handle change calmly; to go for the ride, so to speak. Change is scary for most people - me included; but it is inevitable and the way that it all goes down depends on your attitude and ability to handle it all. This was the philosophy that I applied to a lot of big life situations, as well as my everyday life. This was the attitude that I brought to the table when I lost my license and then had to find high risk auto insurance.

People have their licenses suspended for many reasons including having too many traffic violations, being involved in a number of accidents, driving under the influence, and more. For me, accidents were the cause for losing my license temporarily. This was one of the hardest times in my life but I walked through it with as much strength as possible; doing what I needed to do to come out the other side. Once I came out the other side, however, I was faced with another challenge. When my license was restored I was required to carry SR22 insurance - or high risk auto insurance - in order to be back on the road legally. Let’s face it; I was a driving risk and not every insurance company was going to extend themselves to cover me.

This was where things got even stickier. I had to find an insurance company that not only offered California high risk car insurance but that had a policy that would work for me and cover me affordably. Getting online was the best thing that I could do in this situation as I could explore the companies around me that offered high risk auto insurance, inspect the policies that they offered and compare them side by side in order to get the best price.

SR22 Insurance for the Next Chapter in My Life, Part I

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance, SR 22 Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 12:16 pm

Life is never meant to be the same day after day; change is simply a part of life which can be a great thing and also quite terrifying depending on how you approach it and how invested you are in everything staying the same. Change used to really freak me out but I’ve gotten much better with it as I’ve gotten older; after all, what can I do about it? I might as well buckle down and go for the ride. This was the attitude I took to the table when I found out that I needed high risk auto insurance. Was it a huge change in and of itself? No. But it followed a tough time in my life and now I was left to pay payments - quite literally - at a price that I could not imagine being able to swing. I had to organize my thoughts and gather information.

The need for California high risk car insurance - for me - came as a result of one too many accidents. I was not the greatest driver to begin with but my cavalier attitude and horrible habits had led me to get ticket after ticket for a number of traffic violations. Eventually I had my license suspended as a result. This was a tough emotional time for me. I was ashamed, to say the least, and then there was the logistical consideration of trying to get to and from the places that I needed to go - including work - without my car. I had really gotten myself into a tough situation.

Once I got my license returned to me, it was with the condition that I carry high risk auto insurance. Now it was up to me to find the insurance coverage that would provide what I needed at a price that I could at least swallow temporarily. More in the next post…

High Risk Auto Insurance - Temporary Requirement

Filed under: Car Insurance Quote California, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 5:27 pm

The need to have high risk auto insurance may be temporary but it can still cost a significant amount of money - enough so that payments can really throw me off in track in terms of my budget. I had lost my license due a number of traffic violations and now that I was finally getting it back I had to worry about making sure that I had California high risk car insurance. This situation was my fault; there was no denying it. In addition to taking a toll on me emotionally and certainly straining my family relationships, I was having to pay up financially as well. I had already paid so much in fines and fees that I was way behind in my bills. Now, I had to look for California auto insurance that I knew was going to cost me a great deal more than any traditional policy. I didn’t know how I was going to pay for it - whether it was temporary or not.

Still the fact remained that I had to - by law - carry SR22 insurance and so I set to work to find the appropriate policy for my needs. I looked online where I found a list of companies that offered high risk auto insurance. There were not many that would take the risk but there were some out there and they were good companies. Next I looked at the actual policies that they offered in terms of coverage. This was an important point because while one policy may seem to be cheaper than the other when you really looked at it you could see that it was less expensive because if provided less coverage.

Once I gathered all the information I was able to request a car insurance quote. California companies had something to offer in terms of this temporary arrangement and will allow me to cover myself as affordably as possible.

California Auto Insurance on a Budget

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 6:38 am

When you think car insurance - of any kind - you likely do not think of it in connection with the word budget. In fact, California auto insurance is one of those things that most people simply expect to pay exceedingly high prices to obtain. Of course the worst part about this scenario is that car insurance is mandatory; it must be carried in order for a driver to be on the road legally and so many of us feel like we are being held hostage to the insurance companies that can charge whatever they want and get away with it. The truth is - as anyone who has shopped for car insurance lately will tell you - that there is a lot of room when it comes to car insurance policies and finding the best deal often just comes down to doing the research work; research that may have proved quite time consuming prior to the Internet but that is now more convenient than ever. This is especially true when it comes to high risk auto insurance.

California high risk car insurance is another type of auto insurance policy that is typically required by those who are considered high risk - including those who have had their licenses suspended. Often in this case, drivers are required to carry SR22 insurance so as to be able to drive legally upon getting their license back.

The thought of trying to find affordable high risk auto insurance can be extremely intimidating to many people who think that they are unlikely to find anyone to cover them let alone find a policy that they can afford. But getting online and doing the research work can yield terrific results. You will find, that like traditional California auto insurance, you can get high risk auto insurance on a budget; it’s just a matter of comparing policies side by side - something that is easy to do online.

California High Risk Car Insurance - Looking at All the Angles, Part II

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 3:50 pm

In the last post I talked about how happy we were with our insurance company. We had done a lot of research to find them but the time and energy spent was well worth it; we had found the best company for our needs - one that covered all the bases for us and one that we could afford. Then my husband had his license suspended after many traffic violations and an accident tipped the scales for him. It was a temporary suspension but in order to get back on the road once his license was restored he needed to have high risk auto insurance. We quickly found out that this was not something that we could just “order” from our existing insurance company. In fact, our insurance company didn’t offer it all and neither did many insurance companies out there. Apparently this was a specialty insurance and only some companies were willing to take the risk on high risk drivers.

The online market was where we were able to find the most information for our needs. At the very least it put it all in black and white and we could easily identify those companies that offered California high risk car insurance. From there we could conduct deeper research - taking each company that was a possibility and gathering more information about them including customer testimonials, standing in the business community, and details of the policies that they offered. Online it’s also easy and convenient to request a car insurance quote. California had quite a few insurance companies that could potentially offer us an appropriate policy; online we had the opportunity to most effectively explore what they had to offer. This definitely streamlined our decision making process and got us organized for when my husband - now a more humbled and careful driver - did get his license back.
