High Risk Auto Insurance: Second Chances Don’t Have to Be Unaffordable, Part I

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 12:06 pm

I am all about giving second chances. I believe strongly that we all have our own mistakes to make; that mistakes are a part of life and actually help us to live our best life. We can only learn from our mistakes; there is no other way and going down the wrong path sometimes is the only way to find the right path. I have no trouble applying this concept to everyone else but I have to say that it was difficult to apply this philosophy to my own mistakes. It is much harder to forgive yourself than it is to forgive others. For me, the mistake that helped me to learn most about myself was driving while intoxicated. Those who know me were shocked to learn when I got caught that it was not the first time. It was humiliating to lose my license and face my friends and family. I felt like the worst person in the world and it was the lowest time in my life. I knew that what I had done was absolutely unacceptable and I knew that I had to change my life. There were many repercussions for what I had done and one of the things that I had to deal with prior to getting my license back was the purchase of high risk auto insurance.

While I worked on my personal life there were financial considerations that I had to deal with as well. California high risk car insurance did not come cheap but it was absolutely necessary if I wanted to get back on the road legally and turn everything around. I had some work to do to find the California auto insurance that I could afford and getting online was the best way to do my research and collect the information that would allow me to make the best decision. Making the Switch to High Risk Auto Insurance, Part II

Filed under: High Risk Auto Insurance, SR 22 Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 3:19 pm

In the last post I talked about the sticker shock that I had experienced when I first got my California auto insurance. Just coming off my parents’ policy had not prepared me for the prices that I would be paying on my own - as a single, relatively new driver. However I had a good record and honestly my rates were really quite good considering my age. That all changed however when I found myself in the position of having to find California high risk car insurance. This was something that I needed after I had my license suspended for a series of traffic violations. These were not good days for me and certainly something that I seriously regret but, regret aside, I had to deal with the present situation on hand.

Getting my license back required me to now carry SR22 insurance by law - at least for a period of time. My insurance company did not provide high risk auto insurance so I needed to move on and find a policy that would cover me at a pice that I could at least realistically afford.

When I did my research online I was surprised at how many insurance companies offered high risk auto insurance and also how much the policies differed between companies. I spent my time identifying the insurance companies that were reputable and then looking at their high risk policies closely. All policies were not the same; I had to look closely to make sure that they gave the coverage that I needed. Once I identified each company I asked for a car insurance quote. California had much to offer in terms of high risk auto insurance; it was my job to seek out the best and most affordable among each of the policies so that I could find what I needed to get back to driving.

Making the Switch to High Risk Auto Insurance, Part I

Filed under: High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 9:44 am

I had gone to great lengths to find the California auto insurance policy that I had been covered under for the last five years. Coming off of my parent’s policy and purchasing my own policy produced major sticker shock for me and I worked long and hard to find the right policy at a price that I could afford. For the longest time my rates were really quite good as I was a good driver with nothing on my record. Eighteen months ago, however, that all changed. Suddenly I found myself in one traffic violation after another. I was going through a rough time and the way that I drove was all a part of what were some pretty dark days. Before I knew it I had had my license suspended and I was caught in a world that had previously been unfamiliar - filled with court dates and fines and seemingly endless regret.

Now that I had gotten myself back on my feet and was finally able to get my license restored I was facing a whole new challenge - making the switch from my traditional insurance policy to a high risk auto insurance policy. In fact, now that I was considered a high risk driver I was required by law to carry SR22 insurance and it was my responsibility to find the insurance carrier that would cover me.

Once again, sticker shock. A first glance was surprised to learn how much high risk auto insurance could cost. Yet when I looked closer at the policies I could see that there was a difference in prices - I had to do the work to find the California high risk car insurance policy that I could best afford. Just like the first time I found insurance I was on my own in unfamiliar terrain but there was plenty to help me on my way. More in the next post…

Get a Car Insurance Quote - California Has Choices

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, Car Insurance Quote California — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 2:51 pm

Car insurance is one of those things that just has to be dealt with at some point - whether we like it or not. We may not want to spend the money, we may not want to do the research that finding an appropriate California auto insurance entails; but in the end it’s just something that we have to do according to the law and it makes the most sense for us if we are able to find the insurance policy that we can live with in terms of price and what offers us the coverage that can give us peace of mind.

So research must be done no matter what; it is worth the time put into the process to be sure that you are not overpaying for insurance that does not offer the appropriate coverage. This is especially true when seeking out California high risk car insurance. It’s true that you’re going to spend more in premiums to be covered by high risk auto insurance; there is simply no way around this fact. But if you are diligent in your search and you turn to the Internet for a fast and effective way to gather your information you can weed through the policies - and their prices - quickly and be well on your way to finding the appropriate coverage.

Online research allows those in the market for high risk insurance to get a car insurance quote. California has a variety of insurance companies and not all offer the appropriate level of insurance. In other words it can be challenging to compare apples to apples. Online research, however, can allow you to identify those companies that offer the coverage that you need and then compare side by side the policies that they offer along with prices. Be sure to collect many car insurance quotes - there are many choices out there - so that you can establish that you are indeed getting the best deal.

High Risk Auto Insurance Gets Me Through, Part II

Filed under: High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 3:37 pm

In the last post I talked about my history when it came to putting big financial things into place - like car insurance; in short, someone had always done the heavy lifting for me - from my parents to my husband. Now that I was on my own, however, it was time for me to find what I needed on my own. Unfortunately at this time in my life what I needed was high risk auto insurance - something that I hadn’t even known existed prior to this. Now it was going to take a front seat in my life as several traffic violations and a suspended license had resulted in me needing California high risk car insurance to get back on the road.

It was difficult enough for me to find traditional California auto insurance when I first got divorced. It’s not that the process itself was hard; it was the fact that I had never done anything like this on my own before and I was completely unsure of where to start or what to do. I had worked through it and found the policy that I thought worked. Now I was in a different situation because not every car insurance company offers high risk auto insurance. Not only did I need to identify the companies that could help me but I needed to find the policies that offered the proper coverage and the prices I could afford.

The Internet was my saving grace as I knew that it would be for this challenge. Online I could identify the companies that offered California high risk car insurance and compare policy to policy so that I could see the coverage side by side. This was the only way that I could determine if I was getting the best price. In the end, it worked - just a little bit of car insurance saved me time and money and got me on my way.

High Risk Auto Insurance Gets Me Through, Part I

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 6:52 pm

When it comes to car insurance there’s no one less interested in the details than me. I admit that I’ve been spoiled - going from my parents’ car insurance policy to a California auto insurance policy that my husband set up as soon as we were married. I’ve never had to really deal with insurance too much and it’s something to which I’ve given little thought as a result. But now that I am single these are the things that I have had to do for myself and while I thought that finding a traditional car insurance policy was difficult I didn’t know how I was going to find high risk auto insurance.

Who knew that I even needed California high risk car insurance? This came as a shock to me. Obviously I knew that I had had some problems with my driving record and I had recently had my driver’s license suspended as a result. To be honest though I had never considered the fact that such an event would impact my need for a particular type of car insurance. So when I found out that in fact I needed high risk auto insurance before I would be able to get back on the road I was surprised and then immediately panicked. How would I find what I needed and still be able to afford it?

I knew that now was the time that I needed to step up and do what I needed to do to take care of myself on my own terms - I couldn’t rely on anyone else to do it for me this time. I headed straight to my computer where I knew that I would be able to find the high risk auto insurance I needed to get me through this particular period of time until I could once again drive with traditional insurance. Choose Once for High Risk Auto Insurance, Part II

Filed under: High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 9:12 am

In the last post we talked about how insurance coverage is calculated by insurance companies including California auto insurance companies. Everything is about weighing the risk that you pose to the insurance company; about how likely you are to do something that causes them to have to come out of pocket with money. When a high risk auto insurance company offers you coverage they are taking a calculated risk; hoping that they will reap the rewards of your policy payments and that you won’t engage in any behavior that will result in them having to payout on the policy. If you have to carry high risk auto insurance there is no way around getting such a policy; it’s the law. However, you can shop insurance companies to find the most affordable policy available to you that still offers the coverage that you need. From there, it is important to begin the work of becoming less of a risk so that you can purchase traditional California auto insurance at some point.

Insurance companies are only looking at your record. So switching from insurance company to insurance company does not look good on that record. As we previously discussed, be sure to choose wisely when it comes to choosing a California high risk car insurance company and to stick with that company unless you absolutely have to make a switch. Some of the other things that you can do to improve your record include:

Taking driving safety classes. You can show that you are being responsible in improving your behavior by taking instructional classes.

Choose your vehicle wisely. Driving a high-value “sports” car will only raise your premiums.

Clear up any pending fines or citations. You want your record to reflect that you have dealt with everything responsibility and to clear those issues as quickly as possible.

Choose Once for High Risk Auto Insurance, Part I

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 7:21 pm

Insurance premiums are calculated according to statistics; something that is true of all insurance policies. You are compared against the average and the insurance company determines the likelihood of particular situations occurring depending upon certain criteria. Looking for insurance requires you to look for the insurance companies that provide the coverage that you need and then giving them the criteria that will allow them to calculate a quote for your policy. Obviously it’s crucial to your pocketbook to do your homework. Policy prices vary from company to company and if you want to make sure that you’re not overpaying then you have to do the footwork. Proper research is especially important when you’re seeking high risk auto insurance; and finding a company and sticking with them is also important.

Your profile as an insurance consumer is all about numbers and perception. There is already a perception about you from the standpoint of the insurance companies because you need high risk auto insurance. Those who have had multiple violations, have been cited for driving under the influence, or have been involved in numerous accidents may be required to carry SR22 insurance. The companies that will provide you this insurance have already assessed you according to your risk; and quite frankly you are a higher risk to them having to come out of pocket because of your driving behavior.

The important thing is to find the insurance company that provides you the comprehensive coverage that you need and to settle into the task of becoming less of a risk so that you can one day get California auto insurance that it is not high risk. Switching from insurance company to insurance company does not look good on anyone’s record so it is important to choose wisely and choose once. More in the next post…

California High Risk Car Insurance this Year

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 6:04 pm

This is not starting the New Year off on the best foot, I know, but I have found myself having to search our high risk auto insurance. Why? Because I had my driver’s license suspended and one of the conditions of getting it back is having a comprehensive SR22 insurance policy in place. Irresponsible driving got my license taken away to begin with and I don’t want any more irresponsibility to affect my family and finances going forward. So I’m on the straight and narrow from now on - starting with my responsible search for California high risk car insurance. There are many policies out there - and many insurance companies that offer these policies - so it is up to me to find the policy that will give me the coverage that I need without completely breaking the bank. I have a lot of things to make up for - and money is one of them. I need to show my family that I’m not going to throw money completely out the window. I know that it’s expensive to get high risk auto insurance and I need to take my time to find the policy that will fully cover me and not completely kill my budget. This is not a long term thing; I will do all that I can to restore my credibility as a driver and be able to get a traditional car insurance policy but for now, California high risk car insurance is what I need to get back on the road legally.

I am happy that I have all the resources available to me in terms of research; the Internet is the most outstanding tool I could possibly have to find the California auto insurance I need at this time in my life. I can collect quotes, compare policies, and make a choice from among the options available to me.
