High Risk Auto Insurance for the Imperfect Driver

Filed under: Car Insurance Quote California, High Risk Auto Insurance, SR 22 Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 12:18 pm

It takes a lot of research to find comprehensive California auto insurance that is still affordable. This is one of the largest bills we will pay as a part of our living expenses; it costs a lot to insure a driver. When that driver is high risk, however, policies can cost even more. Not every driver has a perfect record; that’s the reality but that doesn’t mean that such a driver doesn’t deserve a second chance - or a chance to get the comprehensive car insurance that they need.

California high risk car insurance is just another type of insurance policy; one that is specific to those who have a less than perfect driving record. In fact, for those who have gotten multiple violations or have had their license suspended for a period of time, high risk - or SR22 insurance - is required by law. So how do such drivers go about finding the high risk auto insurance that they need?

Head Online. The Internet is our full service access to all the information we need for whatever products and services that we seek. Here we can find the car insurance companies that offer the type of high risk auto insurance that we need at prices we can afford.

Gather quotes, one by one. The beauty of shopping online is having the ability to get information quickly. Online we can narrow our choice down and request a car insurance quote. California has a bevy of options when it comes to high risk auto insurance; there are variables when it comes to price and shopping online can help us identify the cheaper policies.

Get educated. Before we even go about comparing policies we need to know what we are looking for in terms of coverage. Online research will give us the information that we need so that we know that we are comparing the same type of coverage from company to company and policy to policy.

Don’t Stop at One Car Insurance Quote: California Has Much to Offer, Part II

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, Car Insurance Quote California, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 5:54 pm

In the last post we talked about the right way to go when searching out the appropriate California high risk car insurance policy. The fact is that such a California auto insurance policy can be downright pricey; something that is a part of the package when it comes to a high risk policy because the insurance company is taking a bigger risk insuring someone with a record and there is a financial component to that. There are many who just assume that such a policy will be through the roof and they buckle down to pay it for as long as they have to be covered as a risky driver. As we already discussed, however, there are many California auto insurance companies that offer high risk policies and the coverage and prices differ enormously between them. It is incumbent upon the driver who is looking for insurance to do the research necessary to find the policy that makes the most sense.

The Internet has made research in this capacity much more convenient as we are able to logon and get the information that we need in a matter of minutes. As we discussed previously, Internet research allows us to compare policy to policy - making sure that we are only comparing policies that offer the same type of coverage. Some policies may be lower priced - but are they offering the coverage that the higher priced policy is offering? Additionally, Internet research allows us to request a car insurance quote. California insurance companies can be gathered online and we can then compare the quotes that we get.

Most importantly, online research allows us to go beyond the one insurance company that may have been available to us locally or even regionally. Don’t stop at getting one insurance quote when it comes to high risk auto insurance policies; gather as many quotes as possible from as many companies as possible and choose wisely from among them.

Don’t Stop at One Car Insurance Quote: California Has Much to Offer, Part I

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, Car Insurance Quote California — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 9:33 am

When it comes to searching out appropriate California auto insurance it may be tempting to go with the first policy that looks somewhat promising or is less than you had assumed that you would be paying - especially if you need high risk auto insurance. While it’s understandable, especially in this economy and during this time of year that you just want to get it over and done with - choose a policy and forget about it - rushing through the process can leave you unprotected and may even mean that you are paying more than you have to for car insurance.

You may think, however, that the opposite of rushing through the process of searching for car insurance means putting aside several weeks to research car insurance policies. Luckily, there is something that is far easier and certainly far faster and it comes through the Internet. With just a few hours of Internet research you can find California auto insurance companies that offer traditional policies as well as California high risk car insurance. This will allow you to:

Compare policy to policy. At first glance it may appear as though each car insurance policy offers the same types of coverage but on closer examination you may see that you are not comparing apples to apples. Read through the policies carefully to make sure that they offer what you need; skimping on coverage for a lower price is never a good bet.

Request a car insurance quote. California insurance companies that are online will often offer the ability to fill out a questionnaire. The information gathered will be used to generate a car insurance quote. To that end, it is imperative that you give the insurance companies the detailed information for which they ask so that they can give you the best quote.

Providing Information Helps to Find Best High Risk Auto Insurance Rates

Filed under: Car Insurance Quote California, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 10:38 am

Starting a search for car insurance can be a challenge in and of itself but when you are in the market for high risk auto insurance the challenge can become even more pronounced. It is always important to find the best insurance policy for your needs, and the agent that will provide you with the level of service that you require; but price is always, always a consideration and the fact is that high risk auto insurance comes with a higher price tag than traditional policies. This additional cost, of course, is put in place because California high risk car insurance is meant specifically for those drivers who are considered high risk - having had a number of traffic violations or those who have had their license suspended. The insurance company is therefore taking a higher risk in insuring them and there is a cost associated with that risk.

So how do those who need high risk auto insurance find the appropriate coverage at prices they can afford? By getting online and collecting a good variety of quotes from reputable insurance companies. In fact, this is one of the true advantages of using the Internet for research of this kind; there is the ability for us to quickly and conveniently sort through companies, and give them the information they need to be able to provide us with a quote.

This part of the process, however, is critical and should not be taken lightly. Providing insurance companies with as much information as possible will allow you to get the most accurate car insurance quote. California has so many insurance companies from which to choose - you want to make sure you are comparing apples to apples when you make your choice. Quotes will vary depending on the type of vehicle you are insuring, your marital status, age, and even whether you rent or own your own home.

High Risk Auto Insurance for the Uninitiated, Part II

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, Car Insurance Quote California, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 10:46 am

In the last post I talked about my utter surprise when I discovered that my twins - who were just about to get their driver’s licenses - were actually considered to be high risk because of their age and inexperience. I was prepared for additional expenses associated with them driving but I had never considered that part of those expenses would include high risk auto insurance. In fact, I had just assumed that they would have the typical California auto insurance policy in our state; high risk auto insurance was - as far as I was concerned anyway - reserved for those who had a bad driving record or had lost their license for a period of time.

While it is true that those drivers who have had trouble - up to and including having their license suspended - are required to carry high risk auto insurance in most cases, it is also true that the insurance “powers that be” use a variety of criteria in order to classify drivers. Age and experience - even type of vehicle and marital status - can impact the likelihood of accidents according to statistics. My teenage children were in that group and I had to find the California high risk car insurance that would give us the policy we needed at a price we could afford.

I jumped right online and began to gather car insurance quote after car insurance quote. California has its share of insurance companies and the most efficient way to find out which ones offer high risk auto insurance was to get online and begin the hunt. This only took a matter of hours; before long I had a list of companies from which I had requested quotes. In a matter of days we had the California auto insurance that we needed to best protect our family.

High Risk Auto Insurance for the Uninitiated, Part I

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 11:35 am

There’s nothing worse than having to deal with something - forced to absolutely deal with something - when you have no experience whatsoever in the matter at hand. Lack of experience, lack of knowledge, and a less than clear understanding of where to go for help can cause people to feel completely out of control and most definitely overwhelmed; and when you have to deal with something regardless of all of these feelings you can wind up feeling really stressed out. This describes my feelings most accurately whenI found myself in need of high risk auto insurance. I obviously knew enough about car insurance - enough that I had found myself a policy when I needed it and paid my bills for what I considered to be the most appropriate policy for my needs, but I had no idea that high risk auto insurance even existed or how I could go about finding it.

I didn’t even know who was considered “high risk;” I assumed that people in this category had done something dramatic that caused them to lose their license or at least get a significant number of traffic violations. While it is the case that those who have have received many violations and have had their license suspended will undoubtedly be considered high risk, there is another whole group of people who are also in this category - placed there by a number of factors that the insurance companies use as criteria.

My kids - twins who had just become legal to drive - were surprisingly considered high risk as well. Who knew? Apparently, their age and experience put them in the high risk category and we were faced with having to find California high risk car insurance to cover them adequately. More to come in the next post about how we found high risk auto insurance despite our inexperience…

California High Risk Insurance for the New Year

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 7:10 am

In the year ahead we have alot of decisions to make and one of them is finding high risk auto insurance for my husband. Unfortunately, many traffic violations caused my husband to have his license suspended and he was completely dependent on me for awhile. Needless to say I was not happy on many levels; playing taxi driver was only the tip of the iceberg. Since this happened, however, he has taken responsibility for his actions and is attending school to become a better driver. He is set to get his license restored in the beginning of the year but the return of his license means that he now has to carry California high risk car insurance.

So where does this leave us? Having to sort through high risk auto insurance policies to find the company that can help us at a price we can at least swing for the time during which he needs to be covered in this manner. I was seriously dreading having to start the research for California auto insurance - especially during this time of year when we have so much to do. I needn’t have worried though; the ability to get online allowed us to find the best car insurance quote. California has many insurance carriers - only some of which have high risk auto insurance; I needed to conduct the most efficient research possible.

Through Internet research we were able to locate the companies that offered high risk auto insurance and request quotes from each in order to get the best possible prices for the most comprehensive coverage. Now that the New Year is coming and my husband’s license is being restored, we are well on our way to hopefully starting the year with a clean slate. Now that we have insurance we just have to make sure that my husband sticks to his word of becoming a better, more responsible driver.

California High Risk Car Insurance in My New Home, Part II

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance, High Risk Auto Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 10:56 am

In the previous post I talked about my move across the country to California and some of the things that I had to adjust to along the way. I had made a home in my new state and was very happy after doing all of the things that it takes to really get settled in an area. Unfortunately at some point I became too comfortable and did something that I could never have imagined myself doing - I went to a party and after having far too many drinks I got behind the wheel. The ensuing accident thankfully did not involve anyone else but I did hurt myself and my car was totaled. Worse, I was cited for driving under the influence and actually had my license suspended for a period of time. When I got my license back I was faced with the need to get California high risk car insurance in order to be on the road legally. I was overwhelmed with the task at hand and worried that I would not be able to afford any such insurance.

However, after a friend suggested getting online to search out high risk auto insurance policies, this otherwise daunting project became much more manageable. Online I was able to search out the California insurance companies that offered California high risk car insurance and through them I could seek out the specific polices that were going to be most affordable for me.

Having to have high risk auto insurance was never going to be cheap, but the policies differed significantly one to the next. Through online shopping I could browse the policies that made the most sense to me and find the policy that would not only cover me while I was considered a high risk driver but do so without putting me in a financial hole from which I could not recover.

California High Risk Car Insurance in My New Home, Part I

Filed under: California Auto Insurance, California High Risk Car Insurance, Car Insurance Quote California — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 5:05 pm

When I moved to California from the East Coast several years ago I had a lot of adjustment ahead of me. Not only was I dealing with a completely different climate (I had come from an area that was no stranger to snow to live in a state that was perpetually sunny), I had a time difference with which to contend and a completely different lifestyle that took me some time with which to become familiar. Things were different - and prices were different. I had to go about creating my life here and that meant everything from making new friends to dealing with the often mundane details of life, including buying a California auto insurance policy.

While I might have thought it was difficult in the beginning I had - as the expression goes - not seen anything yet. Six months after I moved here I made a terrible decision to get behind the wheel after drinking at a holiday party. I got into an accident and thankfully only wound up hurting myself. I did, however, also have to deal with the legal ramifications of my decision. In my case, that meant losing my license for a period of time and - when I finally did get it back - having to find California high risk car insurance that would cover me.

I had thought that finding a policy when I was considered a “safe” driver was difficult but I was absolutely certain I would never find a high risk auto insurance policy that I could afford. I was convinced that I would be paying - quite literally- for this mistake for the rest of my life. That’s when a good friend suggested that I get online to search out an affordable car insurance quote. California had a lot of insurance companies and many different policies; I needed to be able to search through them effectively.

Explore California High Risk Car Insurance Before Buying

Filed under: California High Risk Car Insurance — California High Risk Car Insurance Editor @ 1:12 pm

If you find yourself faced with the prospect of having to buy California high risk car insurance, you’re not alone. Each year many drivers prove their humanity behind the wheel and are required to buy higher priced coverage to retain their road privileges. While this coverage can be costly, the more you know about it and how to shop for it, the more you can potentially save.

The first thing you need to keep in mind is that SR22 insurance does come at a higher price for good reason. This type of coverage is more costly simply because drivers who require it are more likely statistically to have claims. High risk auto insurance companies do have to cover their own bases, so they charge more.

If you’ve been told you need California auto insurance for higher risk drivers, the next thing you need to bear in mind is that the “sentence” doesn’t have to be forever. Motorists can regain safe driver status with the law and insurance companies by fulfilling all legal requirements and maintaining a good driving record. It just takes some time and care to make this happen.

While the need for high risk coverage is in place, motorists can take steps to reduce their costs. There are things that can be done to ensure a car insurance quote California residents can afford. The possibilities include only buying necessary coverage, raising deductibles, lowering limits and shopping around.

When it comes to getting a good price on California high risk car insurance, shopping around might be one of the most important steps. Online brokers who are licensed within the state can really help facilitate this process. Drivers who seek out multiple quotes through reputable brokers often discover the bottom line cost of SR22 insurance is more palatable than they imagined.

When the law says you need high risk auto insurance, don’t rush into a purchase. Review your options and seek out the best possible quote.
