In the last post I talked about my surprise when I was finally out on my own and had to get my own car insurance policy. I had been sheltered up until that point as my parents had paid my car insurance premiums which were surely lower because I was covered under their umbrella policy. But now I was out there on my own – on a single policy. And because of my age and my marital status the premiums were high. I was caught off guard by how much I had to pay. But it got worse. During that time I got several driving violations and it got to the point where I actually had my license suspended. This was a humbling experience. I was without a car but still had to get to work – and this was my first job in the real world. I counted on the kindness of friends and the limited public transportation that I had at my disposal.
When I did get my license back I was required to carry SR22 insurance which validated that I carried the high risk auto insurance that I needed to be on the roads. Finding affordable California high risk car insurance is easier said than done. You would think that because the policy prices are so much higher that every insurance company would offer high risk auto insurance policies. But the truth is that not every insurance company offers them. Think about it; when an insurance company offers a high risk policy they are assuming that risk and they have the potential to lose a lot of money if they lose that gamble. I had to do a lot of research to find a company that could offer me a high risk auto insurance policy and still more work to find the company that could offer me the policy that I could afford.

I never gave much thought to high risk auto insurance and what it could possibly mean in my life – especially in terms of how much I was paying for my car insurance policy. To be honest, my parents had paid my car insurance from the time I got my driver’s license through the time that I graduated from college. When I graduated and got my first job I got my own car insurance policy. It was quite a shock; the rates were pretty high because of my age and the fact that I wasn’t married (who knew?). But I figured it was just part of the price of admission to the real world and I rolled with it. I had no idea that it was a pretty good price I was paying considering what I would soon face.
I had some driving violations that seemed to come one after the other – not something I’m proud of – and eventually my license was suspended. This was an altogether humiliating experience. I had to count on friends to pick me up for work or I was forced to take public transportation that was in no way convenient where I lived. You have no idea how much you rely on your own car until you are without it and, trust me, it taught me a lesson. I was so happy to get my license back that I didn’t even consider what it would mean with regard to my car insurance. But I soon learned that I needed SR22 insurance – which validated that I had the appropriate high risk auto insurance. There was no option; this was absolutely required for me to get back on the road.
I had a lot of work ahead of me to find the appropriate insurance company that carried the right California auto insurance and could give me a quote that I could manage.

When you discover that you not only need car insurance but you need high risk auto insurance you can feel defeated before you even begin to look for a policy. After all, policy prices are typically high under the best of circumstances but when you need a high risk policy you are looking at paying much higher prices than average. Starting the process to find appropriate high risk auto insurance can be daunting to say the least but armed with information and committed to taking it one step at a time you can at least enter into the hunt with control.
The most important thing when it comes to finding any kind of car insurance policy is to make sure that you educate yourself as thoroughly as possible about what is available to you. Your options are more limited when you are in need of high risk auto insurance but that doesn’t mean that there are no options at all. So gather information on all of the companies that do offer California high risk car insurance and what they offer in terms of service, coverage, and price. It’s important to remember that price is not everything when it comes to high risk auto insurance so make sure you are comparing apples to apples when you are comparing policies. One policy may be cheaper but it may also offer far less in terms of coverage than another company with a higher price.
When gathering quotes be sure that you do mention those things that can help lower your policy price; important things such as driving an older model car on which you owe nothing, or if you’re a student with good grades, or even the fact that you are married all count as advantages when getting a car insurance quote. California has many options when it comes to high risk auto insurance; gather information and choose accordingly.

In the last post we talked about the chore (for there often seems no other word for it) of having to find acceptable California auto insurance; and the added challenge that is presented to us when we need to find California high risk car insurance. High risk auto insurance is required for those who have been identified as high risk drivers because of having a number of violations on their records or being involved in something serious enough to have their license suspended. Some drivers even need high risk auto insurance when they are young, inexperienced, or driving a particularly expensive or sporty car.
Whatever the case for needing California high risk car insurance, the reality is that finding appropriate coverage at affordable enough prices can be difficult to say the least. There is a lot of leg work that is required to find the most appropriate coverage and often drivers in such a situation are put off by frustration quickly because they are unable to find insurance companies that offer high risk policies; or, when they do, they find that the policy is too expensive for them to manage.
In the last post we talked about the things that drivers can do to prepare themselves for finding the policy that is right for them. For one, the internet offers a variety of ways in which to do research from the comfort of your own home or office and takes much of the sting out of the legwork. Additionally, asking the right questions of the experts – without the obligation of signing with them – allows you to stay in control and educate yourself about the process.
Another important thing to note – collect quotes from companies so that you have a variety of products to compare. It’s easy to request quotes online; take advantage of the convenience and request what you need.

Finding acceptable and affordable car insurance more than likely falls on the lowest of all lists for people in terms of how they want to spend their time. Let’s face it; finding car insurance can be a pain in even the most normal of circumstances. But when you are in need of California high risk car insurance the time spent looking for appropriate coverage – and the pain associated with that time spent – can increase exponentially.
California auto insurance – like car insurance throughout the rest of the country can undoubtedly be pricey. But when you have a driving record that reflects violations and even occurrences as serious as driving under the influence or having your license suspended, then you quickly find yourself in the realm of needing high risk auto insurance – which can not only be difficult to find but also highly unaffordable.
Ultimately the most important thing to do in this scenario is to look for the most acceptable car insurance quote. California insurance companies – like those around the nation – do not automatically offer high risk auto insurance. In fact, sometimes such policies can be difficult to find; and when they are found they can be through the roof in terms of policy price. But if you take your time looking for a high risk auto insurance policy you can at least know that you have done all that you can to find the most appropriate policy for your needs.
• Take to the Internet. There’s no greater tool available to us in the modern world than the Internet. Here you can find the companies that offer high risk auto insurance policies and compare their prices against each other.
• Find expert advice. Get the advice of the professionals before you choose to work with one. Get a list of questions together and look for those insurance experts that offer free consultations. Get knowledgeable before you buy.

When your child begins to drive it is a completely surreal experience. How can this person who just went to Kindergarten approximately two minutes ago be expected to responsibly get behind the wheel of a car? It takes a lot of getting used to – seeing your son or daughter drive off without you or ask for the keys to the car. But get used to it you must because it’s an inevitability of growing up and the best that you can do is prepare them appropriately.
In speaking of preparation, I suppose what I was least prepared for was the unavailability and the price (when it was available) of high risk auto insurance. Yes, it turns out that my daughter is considered a high risk driver because of her age and inexperience. It obviously won’t always be this way but for now she needs high risk auto insurance in order to be on the road legally.
This was something I did not expect and, in fact, our insurance company would not cover her on our policy and did not, in fact, carry California high risk car insurance. Instead I hit the Internet where I was able to research all of the policies that were available to us and choose the most affordable car insurance quote. California has many options in car insurance but researching high risk auto insurance is another animal entirely. There are many companies that simply do not offer this option and those that do often come at a substantial price.
With some time and effort we were able to find high risk auto insurance that was appropriate for my daughter and affordable for us. As she continues to drive and gains experience her stock as a driver will go up and at some point high risk auto insurance will not be necessary. But, for now, we’re happy to have found a policy that works.

Several years ago after I graduated from college and embarked on my career I was in pretty dire financial straits. I was just barely managing to pay my bills month to month and anything extra was completely out of bounds in terms of affordability. However – and unfortunately – I seemed to think at this time in my life that car insurance was dispensable. It was certainly expensive for my financial circumstances at the time but instead of doing my research to find California auto insurance that I could afford, I simply went without. It turns out, that in addition to being illegal it was really rather shortsighted of me.
Of course I had an accident while driving without insurance. It was completely and totally my fault. Thankfully no one was hurt in the accident but it also came to light that I was driving without insurance. Now I am required to carry SR22 insurance in order to legally be on the roadways.
SR22 insurance, as the name implies, is an insurance policy. It confirms that I have insurance and I take financial responsibility. I am required to carry it for three years. I was now considered high risk and finding high risk auto insurance that I could afford (and I thought regular car insurance was expensive?) was a research exercise to be sure.
I had to find companies that offered SR22 insurance in my state because without it my license could be suspended.
Luckily I was able to shop online where I could easily and systematically look at those companies that offer California high risk auto insurance that I could manage. All I know is that I will never again consider car insurance to be an option that I can go without. In the end, it’s not worth it and now I’m paying the price.

There are some words that just make you feel like giving up before you even get into the game. The words “high risk” when it comes to car insurance – for those responsible for paying the premiums - can definitely feel like making you give up before you have even begun to fight. In this case, fighting is all about doing the legwork to discover what the quotes are that are available to you by those insurance companies that offer high risk auto insurance.
High risk auto insurance is vehicular insurance coverage for those who are considered “high risk” – drivers who are young, inexperience, or have a driving record that includes past violations or even suspension of their driver’s license. There are a variety of classifications that insurance companies use to determine whether or not a driver is considered high risk but, if the calculations determine that they are, then this means that they are more at risk than most to have a vehicle related incident. Therefore, the insurance company is put in a riskier position by providing them insurance. To make up for this riskier position the insurance company will charge the insured higher than average rates. It becomes incumbent upon the driver, therefore, to gather quotes from insurance companies that offer California high risk car insurance (not all do).
In gathering numbers, the driver has the ability to choose the most competitive car insurance quote. California, like other states, can be pricey when it comes to high risk auto insurance but by doing their due diligence, drivers can find the companies that are willing to work with them and the quotes that will provide them the insurance coverage that they need at the prices they can afford.
More than anything, drivers who are in need of high risk auto insurance should begin the work necessary to improve their insurance classification and lower their rates.

If you can’t get out of something then you might as well make the best of it – that’s what I always say; just buckle down and get through it as best you can. That was the position I took when it came to having to have high risk auto insurance Was this ideal? Absolutely not. I was a student working a part time job and barely making ends meet so obviously incurring more costs with California high risk car insurance wasn’t the most ideal situation for me at this time. But the fact of the matter is that I did this to myself. My driving record and the fact that I lost my license for a period of time because of driving under the influence were the reasons that I now had to have SR22 insurance to get back on the road. Like it or not I had to pay for my mistakes and some of the payment was going to have to come out of my wallet.
Now that I was working and back in school and trying to live my life on the straight and narrow I felt like getting high risk auto insurance was just a part of the penance that I had to pay for past mistakes. But I wasn’t going to simply choose the first car insurance quote. California has many options when it comes to car insurance coverage and it was the responsible thing to do my homework and find the California auto insurance company that not only offered high risk auto insurance but offered competitive rates that wouldn’t break me while I had to carry SR22 insurance.
Just a little bit of online research got me the information that I needed. I feel like I’m finally taking responsibility for myself and making grown up decisions. Better late than never.

In the last post we talked about some of the reasons that drivers may be required to carry high risk auto insurance rather than the standard auto insurance policies issued to most drivers. Traffic violations, convictions, and license suspensions all count against drivers in the world of insurance – which is essentially just a game of risk. The insurance company is offering you coverage and absorbing the risk that you will one day need that coverage. The riskier the behavior engaged in by a driver the higher the possibility that an insurance company will have to come out of pocket. So those companies that offer high risk auto insurance are willing to take on that greater risk posed by higher risk drivers.
Is high risk auto insurance more costly than traditional car insurance? Yes. But here’s what it offers – the opportunity to get back on the road when most insurance companies will not offer any type of insurance coverage whatsoever to drivers with strikes against them on their driving records.
Some of the things to keep in mind when searching for the appropriate California auto insurance policy include:
• Finding the right insurance provider. Not every insurance company is the same in terms of rates and service. And not every insurance company offers high risk auto insurance. However working with a company that offers high risk insurance does not mean that you have to sacrifice good service and competitive prices. Companies that offer comprehensive insurance policies to high risk drivers are out there and looking online is the best place to start.
• Expect to pay more but don’t settle for paying through the nose. Look for a company that offers a reasonable quote.
• It’s not forever. High risk auto insurance doesn’t have to be your lot in life for the long haul. Accept what you have to accept at the moment and move forward towards better rates by improving your driving record.
